Fluidik Interactive (say flew-ídik) is a one-person user interface design studio based in San Francisco. I design custom, branded user interfaces for everything from Fortune 500 companies to small start-ups. I have expertise with a vast range of products, including web 2.0, iPhone, social networking, e-commerce, network management, healthcare, music players, search, construction, preference panels, and more.

Hi, I'm Eli

I've coined the term "Joy of Use" to describe an approach to interface design that offers more than ease of use -- it offers an experience that is engaging in way the act of using the product makes a user feel joy. If you've ever seen the smiles produced by flipping through photos on an iPhone, you have seen what I am calling Joy of Use. That's the kind of experience I strive to bring to my work.

I belive that visual design can be leveraged for far more than making an interface aesthetically pleasing. Visual design should enhance usability. I've developed solutions for my clients that intertwine visual design and the UI in ways that are contemporary, stylish, and more usable.

I've been providing UI consulting services for the last 10 years. My multi-disciplinary expertise spans research, interaction, testing, graphic design, and engineering. I apprenticed under one of the original Macintosh UI team members and hold patent credit from Sun Microsystems for a UI widget I conceived and prototyped.
